Newschool student studies Homer Delawie

Zaid Soudani, a first year student at the Newschool of Architecture  chose Homer Delawie for his research of Case Study Homes that began in Southern California after World War II.

Each student was given a Case Study home or local Architect to reproduce architectural drawings, analytic diagrams, interior design and models.

“I learned that the Case Study Homes and Similar projects were a time of new innovating designs, experimentation, and exploration. Exploring spaces and materials while being efficient and inexpensive. Through my analysis of Homer Delawie projects, I learned that he liked to take advantage of the property features like the natural terrain, landscaping and views. Creating spacious areas using wood and glass to connect the interior space with the exterior. This style is still being done today and is a staple of Modern Architecture.”
