The campus is organized around an existing life science building occupied by SKCC. The master plan configuration and the design of buildings were influenced by their close proximity to coastal canyons. Coastal development permitting and the resolution of environmental habitat concerns were important elements of the professional services provided. The campus design promotes a sense of community by focusing the four buildings’ entries inward toward the common central street and providing for connecting pedestrian pathways. The designs for the two new buildings share a common curved entry element and eyebrow.
