Our major focus is upon design as a way of thinking, of focusing upon how people interact with complex systems and technology, and upon ensuring that we solve the right problem, the root issues that define the true needs of the people and groups work with us, that we serve.

Philosophy

The UC San Diego Design Lab works on major societal issues, such as large-scale education, automation, healthcare, visualization of complex phenomena and data, social interactions, citizen science, and the ethical issues that are of ever-increasing importance.
