Since launching in 2013 with a mission to unify communication and our working lives simpler, more pleasant, and more productive, Slack has taken the world by storm, quickly becoming the fastest-growing enterprise software company of all time. With the efficiency Slack brings in communication, however, comes an extensive amount of information for knowledge workers to navigate.

In the talk, Jerry Talton, an Engineering Manager in the Search, Learning & Intelligence group at Slack, will sketch the data-driven direction his team is currently exploring to build the business operating system of the future and discuss the design process used to quickly prototype and ship product features powered by machine intelligence.

Bio: Jerry Talton is an Engineering Manager in the Search, Learning, & Intelligence group at Slack, where he leads the team combatting information overload. Previously, he was the founder and CEO of Apropose, a data-driven design company backed by Andreessen Horowitz and New Enterprise Associates. He holds a PhD in computer science from Stanford University and BS and MS degrees from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
