Congrats, project team!<\/p>\n<p>The Hannah Mason Pump Station is located in Willamette Park, a waterfront recreation area that is important to the southwest Portland community.<\/p>\n<p>Portland Water Bureau employees, City commissioners, a neighborhood committee member, and a Mason family representative all presented at the event and were excited to welcome the beautiful new building to the park. One City commissioner claimed, \u201cIt\u2019s the best-looking pump station I\u2019ve ever seen!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new station not only looks great, it\u2019s energy efficient and mindfully built. An eco-roof, efficient pumps and valves, and countless other upgrades enables Portland to reduce energy costs by $163,000 a year! The designs also recognized that it is sited on a floodplain, locating pumps and electrical equipment on the second story in the case of a flood.<\/p>\n<p><em>Who is Hannah Mason and why name a pump station after her<\/em>?<\/p>\n<p>She was a philanthropist, landowner, and wife to an early Portland mayor, William S. Mason.
