Michael Wall Engineering provided electrical construction documents and architectural lighting design services for this $600 million 1,300,000SF 12-building campus-style for the County of San Diego. The project was named by SDG&E as Energy Champion “Best New Building” and by California Center for Sustainable Energy as “Outstanding Governmental Building of the Year” and achieved LEED Platinum certification for the Conference Center and LEED Gold certification for the office buildings. The project achieved an average lighting power density of 38% below Title 24 requirements.
The 38-acre project was designed over an 11-year period and includes a 1200A 12kV SDG&E service, 5MW of paralleled emergency power generation, and four (4) SF6 gas switches. The development provides the County with 900,000SF office buildings,160,000SF crime lab, 120,000SF registrar building, 50,000SF fleet maintenance facility, 15,000SF conference center, 40,000GSF sheriff’s wireless and data services building along with 7,200GSF technology building, a central plant, and parking structure for 1,064 vehicles.
