Applications Engineer

Job descriptions:

  • Define, manage, and execute test plans which compare embedded antenna performance.
  • Identify and document wireless performance issues on products under test and engage with customer/chipset vendor to troubleshoot and resolve.
  • Analyze test results and create technical reports.
  • Present test reports to customers.
  • Perform and evaluate passive antenna measurements (S11, S21, & gain).
  • Improve and optimize Airgain OTA test automation.
  • Recommend and develop active antenna test methods.
  • Travel to customer sites to support Airgain OTA test equipment and procedures.
  • Work with team to complete all the documents for engineering and product development, which include product specification, build-package.
  • Conduct full antenna Integration process for customer product which include case study, antenna selection, antenna placement, and OTA test.
  • Create drawings for engineering and products
  • Support  Airgain product manufacture.
  • Hardware test and verification.
  • Develop reference designs of product lines.
  • Assist in the assembly of prototypes, quick builds and samples.
  • Develop antenna reference designs for various MIMO radio architectures.

 

Job Requirements:

  • 5 years in an Applications, FAE or Technical Support Engineer role.
  • Solid knowledge on EM theory.
  • Good knowledge of antennas, transmission line theory, and passive RF circuit design.
  • Experience with the characteristics and design of various antenna types is required.
  • Hands-on experience performing S-parameter measurements, antenna pattern measurements.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver on-time and work well as a team member in a team consisting of different design disciplines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • 2 years drafting and presenting technical reports.
    • 5 years experience with 802.11 networks, which may include designing, deploying, supporting, troubleshooting and administering.
    • Familiarity with 802.11 chipsets and radio architecture Understanding of RF transmissions & antenna behavior.
    •  Ability to use protocol analyzers tools such as OmniPeek and Wireshark Experience with Network Test Tools (e.g. IxChariot ).
    •  Experience using and scripting test automation for networked devices.
    •  The following Certifications would be a plus: CWNA, CWSP, CWAP, CCNA
    •  Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Power Point.

 

Education:

  • Bachelors degree (e.g. Computer Science, Electrical Engineer, etc.)
