Celebrating Earth Day

As civil engineers, the environment is at the forefront of everything we do; we know that our work has an impact on our environment, and we are passionate about keeping it healthy.

This past Earth Day, Murraysmith employees and their friends and families celebrated by doing two of our favorite things on earth: being outside and drinking beer.

Sixteen employees and friends from our Puget Sound offices spent their Saturday improving critical habitat along the Duwamish/Green River. Their efforts built upon decades of work that has transformed this landscape from a mess of blackberry bushes into a lush landscape full of native plants. This restoration provides habitat for many creatures including turtles, rabbits, and birds.

In addition to volunteering outside, each of our offices raised a glass to the Earth during Happy Hour on Thursday, raising $1,000 for Friend of Trees! Murraysmith’s employees have been long-time supporters of this nationally recognized organization that improves the urban tree canopy and restores sensitive natural areas through programs delivered by thousands of volunteers. The $1,000 our employees and Murraysmith donated will help this great organization mobilize volunteers to green our region and build community.
