Best outdoor activity: Ha, this is Boise…there isn’t just one. Hiking, biking, and running in the foothills trails and the greenbelt are favorites in town. Within one-two hours are skiing/snowboarding, whitewater rafting, hiking, camping, hunting, and fishing.

Best weekend getaway:  McCall or Sun Valley

Best restaurant: Unique to Boise is Bar Gernika, a Basque Restaurant

Best coffee: I hear Slow by Slow Coffee Bar is a fun new hipster hangout

Engineering marvel:  Owyhee Dam, supposedly the model for the Hoover Dam and all of the Boise River and Snake River dams
