Celebrating Our Sheroes: Alexandra Orozco
When Senior Marketing Coordinator Alexandra Orozco joined Murraysmith in 2019, she jumped in with both feet. From applying her marketing degree by taking proposal strategy to the next level, teaching teams how to step up their presentation game, and managing our busy conference calendar, Alex has been at the core of our marketing hub from day one. As we continue our sheroes series, we’re excited to share more about Alex’s career journey.
Meet Alexandra Orozco, Senior Marketing Coordinator
How did you get into your career path? I have a deep passion for making meaningful connections with people and marketing allows me to do just that.
What kinds of challenges have you navigated as a woman in the field? Marketing provides a very inclusive and creative environment where ideas are not only welcomed but encouraged regardless of people’s gender, so I’ve been lucky in my field to not face many challenges.
What is the most rewarding part of what you do? I love the people that I work with—hearing their stories and helping them with interviews, presentations, and proposals. The time and preparation that goes into these activities is the most rewarding part of my job because of the collaboration and creativity they require; you really have the chance to get to know people. We spend 8+ hours at work every day so having good people around you who are kind and cooperative makes all the difference in the world.
What’s something you’ve done in your career that you’re proud of? My family and I worked really hard for everything we’ve accomplished since moving to the U.S. from Colombia more than 21 years ago. I feel really proud of my roots, the relationships I’ve been able to cultivate over the years, and graduating from college while working full-time with zero student loans.
What advice do you have for girls and women who are interested in your field? Be genuine, humble, and perseverant. Approach every role with an open mind and give it 100%. If it doesn’t work out, at least you know you gave it your best. Don’t be afraid of the unknown and be kind to yourself.
