Justin Ford Accepts National Kenneth J. Miller Award
Each year, the Pacific Northwest Section of AWWA nominates members to receive the National Kenneth J. Miller Award. This year, Murraysmith’s Justin Ford was selected for the prestigious honor, among six devoted and passionate Water For People leaders.
Justin received the award for his outstanding service to Water For People on Tuesday, June 12, at AWWA’s 2018 Annual Conference & Exposition in Las Vegas, Nevada, during the Kenneth J. Miller Founders’ Award Luncheon.
Justin’s involvement in the Northwest Oregon Subsection Water For People Committee has spanned the last 10 years (and counting!). After volunteering on a local committee for two years, Justin jumped at the opportunity to travel with the World Water Corps – Water For People’s technical volunteer branch – on a monitoring tour of rural water systems in Cochabamba, Bolivia in October of 2009.
In a presentation he gave on his World Water Corps experience, Justin reflected, “This volunteership was an amazing way to be reminded of how fortunate I am, and of how my efforts fundraising for WFP are making a lasting impact worldwide.”
Justin’s passion for the humanitarian organization and its cause has shown no signs of slowing down. He has assisted with over 20 Water For People events, involving many of his coworkers, family, and friends in these successful fundraisers.
Justin is a co-chair of the AWWA-PNWS, NW Oregon Water For People Committee, a local sub-section of an organization founded in 1991 to respond to the water, sanitation, and health needs of millions of families in the developing world. Created by three members of the American Water Works Association, Water For People is the AWWA’s charity of choice. The Kenneth J. Miller Award was established in 2001 by the Water For People’s Board of Directors to honor outstanding volunteer service to this international humanitarian organization.
