Matt Knight Adds Fresh Perspective from Both Sides of Client-Consultant Partnerships

In the three years since Murraysmith + Quincy opened our Louisville office, our presence in Colorado has grown significantly. We’ve built connections with over two dozen local clients, expanded into a new office location, and taken on large complex conveyance and distribution projects that involve trenchless design and modeling. All this exciting growth is a great excuse to add new talent, like Senior Engineer Matt Knight, to complement our team as we continue providing top-notch service.

The best part? Matt’s practically part of the team already, having spent the past six years working with Joel Price, our Colorado office lead, on various stormwater, streetscape, and on-call support projects in the area. With Matt’s breadth of experience leading and supporting engineering projects in Colorado, he will be able to nimbly step in to fill any gaps.

Matt brings a valuable perspective, with experience serving on both the public agency and consulting side of engineering projects. With 19 years of experience under his belt, Matt started his career working for consulting firms for about 11 years, where he focused on site development and municipal infrastructure design and project management. He then moved into the role of City Engineer for two cities in Colorado. Now that he’s landed back in consulting, our team can draw on his well-rounded perspective to better understand our clients’ typical pain points and find the best ways to alleviate them.

With a background primarily in transportation and public works projects, Matt adds depth to our local team’s expertise, while also adding experience to our local bread-and-butter projects—utility rehabilitation. Most recently, he has managed several street and intersection improvement projects, many that required significant stakeholder coordination with dozens of property owners, CDOT, and more.

Matt will be making good use of his technical knowledge, as well as his strong project management background, to both support and manage projects companywide. Because he has developed strong connections with local public agency staff, Matt will play a critical role in expanding our client connections, recruiting skilled staff, and ultimately allowing us to continue growing in Colorado—always with a focus on providing even better service to our clients.

Matt’s unique strengths aren’t just tied to what he can accomplish, though, but in how he works. Through our team’s experience with him so far, we know Matt is a seriously genuine person whose leadership is grounded in communication and collaboration. A quick learner, he will seamlessly become part of our team, helping us pursue more projects in Colorado and across our geographic reach.
