Daniel Mosiman, PhD
After growing up in the Chicago suburbs, Daniel went to college for 11 years straight, culminating in a PhD in environmental engineering. What sparked his drive to earn his PhD was the transformative experiences he had traveling to the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, and India—he realized how critical it is to deliver safe water and sanitation through sustainable methods to people around the world. Daniel’s expertise lies in water chemistry, water/wastewater treatment design, and bench and pilot studies.
When Daniel isn’t thinking about water chemistry while working, he’s thinking about the chemistry of his meals—one of his hobbies is making sourdough bread and preparing fermented foods. He also likes to spend his free time playing with his young son and daughter and going on walks with his wife.
What do you find the most rewarding about your work? Knowing that what I do results in a broad benefit to many people. I also just love working with other people.
How does great engineering work? A combination of creativity, open-mindedness, humility, teamwork, and, crucially, with care for people and the earth.
