Ribbon Cutting! Bend’s Colorado Lift Station
The newest addition to Bend’s wastewater infrastructure, the Colorado Lift Station, is officially up and running! A ribbon cutting ceremony on April 20th celebrated a successful partnership between the City of Bend, Bend Parks and Recreation District, Slayden Constructors, Murraysmith, and local residents and businesses.
Recently, Bend’s sewer collection system was reaching capacity and, in some areas, pipes were routinely approaching overflow levels. Murraysmith worked with the City to develop the concept of the Colorado Lift Station as part of the Collection System Master Plan.
The new lift station has capacity to serve current and future growth on Bend’s west side. The project included design of 1,500 feet of 24-inch diameter gravity sewer (maximum depth of 28-feet), a 2,300 gpm lift station, and 5,660 feet of dual 12-inch diameter force mains.
The new facility is in a popular area and adjacent to the City’s new Whitewater Park. All project partners worked tirelessly to reduce impacts to residents and ensure designs complement the neighborhood.
