Staff Spotlight – Carly Husband

Carly Husband, a human-resources superstar, is the picture of personal and professional development. Her people-centered nature and knack for problem solving led her down this career path, where she puts her resourceful, task-oriented skillset to work empowering others to achieve their own professional success! Starting as an HR intern with Murraysmith more than four years ago, Carly has moved through the ranks as HR Assistant, to HR Generalist, to her new role as Talent Acquisition Specialist assisting with a nationwide recruiting program across CONSOR. Her exponential growth is a testament not only to her HR prowess but to her enthusiasm for supporting our team.

I’ve been lucky to have the opportunity to work with Carly on a few projects recently, and she’s an incredibly talented partner—definitely one to choose first if you’re picking teams! She is proactive, organized, and the first to hit the ground running, whether it’s a quick task or completely uncharted territory. Carly often shoulders more than her fair share of the burden and doesn’t bat an eye when it comes to lending a helping hand. I’m consistently amazed by her ability to see the positive in any situation and offer friendly words of encouragement at just the right moment. While I haven’t known her for very long, she’s already made a huge positive impact to the HR team and sets the bar high for others. I am eager to see how she takes us to new great heights—not just in HR and Talent Acquisition, but as CONSOR.

– Katherine McQuillan-Rhee, HR Generalist

I originally decided to pursue HR because I wanted to be in a people-centered position. I was a camp counselor and an administrator for a summer camp as a young adult, and I really enjoyed those roles, so I was looking to find a career that utilized the same “muscles” (problem solving, advising/coaching, etc.). I started at Murraysmith as an HR intern during my senior year of college and found the role to be very interesting because I was given the opportunity to work on a variety of different projects. I started at the company just before we hit our major growth period, which allowed me to gain experience in every aspect of HR as the company expanded and the HR team faced more challenges.

I’m currently working with the talent acquisition team to implement a new applicant tracking system. This has been a very interesting project because I get to customize a system to fit the needs of two merging companies. I am very task oriented and love to organize information, so I enjoy having the opportunity to develop customized solutions. Ultimately, the goal for this project is to create a tool that will make the internal hiring process efficient for all parties involved, and that will help make the new hire experience a positive one. I’m excited to be able to help optimize both experiences.

I’ve recently transitioned into a talent acquisition role, and I’m excited to learn the tricks of the trade from a phenomenal talent acquisition team. While I have experience interacting with candidates, the role requires a mindset you only learn through doing, and I’m eager to get started. Eventually, my goal is to understand the recruiting process well enough to be able to help not only recruit the quality of talent we desire but to match the people who have that talent to a role and team where they feel stimulated and challenged.

Anything tropical involving cocktails on a warm beach would make me happy! I’d love to return to Hawaii someday to redo the honeymoon that turned into a “staycation” when the island shut down due to hurricane warnings.
