Staff Spotlight – Drew Henson

As one of our hydraulic/hydrologic modeling experts, Drew specializes in wastewater, stormwater, and combined sewer planning projects. Drew joined our team as part of the Aqualyze merge, bringing 11 years with the company performing planning, modeling, design, and permitting. His understanding of all stages of a project provides a valuable perspective to our team. Outside of work, Drew is usually working hard to find fun activities to occupy his 6-year-old twins or taking bike rides around his home state of Washington.

Not only is Drew an excellent hydraulic modeler, but he is a strong project manager willing to tackle all different sorts of projects. His interactions with coworkers and clients are respectful, responsive, and educated. Drew is detailed in his reviews, understanding of when to look at the big picture, and just plain fun to work with.”

– Erika Schuyler, Principal Engineer

My grandfather was a roadway engineer and started his own surveying business after retiring from the Georgia State DOT, so I grew up around the industry. I enjoyed being involved in projects that potentially impacted so many people. I worked summers in high school and college in my grandfather’s business, but after surveying in the South Georgia heat, I decided the engineering field with an air-conditioned office was the preferred path.

One of my current projects involves combined sewer overflows and the potential impacts of climate change. We are interviewing peer agencies and conducting a literature review around the topic. This could inform the client approach to regional infrastructure—billions of dollars of investments—in the coming years. I am excited to help drive the discussion for this important challenge in the county I live in that includes so many complex issues such as uncertainties in engineering projects, affordability, protecting the environment, and environmental justice.

I am hopeful that we can continue to expand our stormwater/water resources services. I would also like the opportunity to work in different geographies, particularly the Southeast, if the opportunity presents itself with CONSOR.

My current dream vacation would be to do a bike tour through Ireland and/or Scotland centered around distillery tours.
